Join Our Network of Volunteers

Then join our Volunteer Network, an alliance of community coalitions and volunteers taking action to increase the number of Illinoisans who have registered as organ/tissue donors.

Donate Life Illinois volunteers live throughout Illinois and include transplant recipients, transplant candidates, and donor family members and friends. They also include healthcare professionals, business leaders, college students and other advocates—who support organ/tissue donation as an important cause and help register donors as a life-giving service back to the community.

Our Volunteer Network is organized into nine areas though Illinois:

  • Bloomington/Normal Area
  • Champaign/Urbana Area
  • Greater Chicagoland Area
  • Peoria Area
  • Peru Area
  • Rockford Area
  • Springfield Area
  • Will County
  • Northwest Indiana

Upon joining the Donate Life Illinois Volunteer Network, volunteers are required to attend an orientation and training to learn about Donate Life Illinois and receive information on organ, tissue, eye and blood donation. Most importantly, volunteers are trained on how to register organ/tissue donors and how to speak to the public about organ/tissue donation.

To join our network, please complete the volunteer application. Upon receiving your completed application, we will invite you to attend an upcoming volunteer training session. If you have any questions, please e-mail Jane Lee Zimmer at jlee-zimmer@giftofhope.org

We ask volunteers to take part in at least two events each year. When Donate Life Illinois participates in any event, the driving purpose is to invite people to register their decision to become organ/tissue donors. We invite you to look around your spheres of influence and see how you can help register people to join the registry. The majority of all Donate Life Illinois programs come from our volunteers.

Upon joining the Donate Life Illinois Volunteer Network, volunteers can take part in one or more of the following opportunities – all of them crucial to our outreach success:

  • Public Speaking
  • Registration Drive
  • Office Volunteer

Volunteer opportunities will be further discussed at the Donate Life Illinois Volunteer Network’s Volunteer Training. Please attend to learn more!
