First, on behalf of all our coalition partners and Secretary of State Jesse White, I’m proud to announce that in June we reached our initial goal of 3.5 million registrations! This is a huge accomplishment for everyone and a true demonstration of Illinois residents taking action in support of donation. Most important, thank YOU! Lives are not saved without the support of selfless registered donors like yourself.

As you already know, the need for lifesaving organs continues to rise with the national transplant waiting list quickly approaching 100,000. Our efforts do not stop here. We have set a new campaign goal of registering 5 million Illinoisans by April 30, 2009, and we need your help! Take a moment to check out what we’ve got going on with our active online community, events and recap of the 2008 U.S. Transplant Games.

Until next time, don’t forget to Tell-A-Friend to register and thank you again for your support of our lifesaving mission.

48 athletes and more than 120 supporters around Illinois travelled to Pittsburg, PA in June to compete in the 2008 U.S. Transplant Games. With 13 different sporting competitions, these Olympic-style games unite thousands of transplant recipients across the country to celebrate life and honor their donor families. Team Illinois brought home dozens of medals in the individual and double events, including two bronze medals in team volleyball and 3-on-3 basketball. Visit Team Illinois’ website for event photos and to register for the 2010 U.S. Transplant games in Madison, Wisconsin.

Thanks for helping us to save lives!
Thanks!
